The SEC Gymnastics Championships don’t get underway until Saturday, but you won’t be able to tell that from all the activity inside Gwinnett Arena on Friday.

In addition to the practice sessions — which are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 3:20 p.m. and are open to the public — the all-important competition draw takes place at 2:50 p.m. That’s when one gymnast from each of the seven schools will draw to determine the rotation for the competition.

In the draw, seven placards are placed on easels (there are seven rotations with three teams at a time taking byes), and a gymnast randomly selects one of the cards to see what’s behind it.

The No. 5-ranked Georgia Gym Dogs are in the first practice session along with No. 3 Alabama and Auburn. No. 1-ranked Florida highlights the second session, which includes Arkansas, Kentucky and LSU.

The Friday sessions are free. Tickets for Saturday’s meet are on sale for $12-$16 and can be purchased at secsports.com or at Gwinnett Arena.
