Georgia running back Todd Gurley tied for the sixth betting choice in Bovada.lv's updated early 2014 Heisman Trophy odds.
Gurley is a 12-to-1 shot to win the award for college football’s most outstanding football player, according to Bovada.lv. Those are the same odds as quarterbacks Brett Hundley (UCLA) and Connor Cook (Michigan State).
In 2013 Gurley, a junior-to-be, rushed for 1,385 yards on 223 carries (6.2 average) with 17 touchdowns and also caught 37 passes for 41 yards with six touchdowns. Gurley missed three games because of injury.
Frank Sinwich (1942) and Herschel Walker (1982) are Georgia players to win the Heisman.
Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is the 2-to-1 favorite to win the Heisman again after he won it for the 2013 season. Ohio State’s Archie Griffin is the only two-time winner of the Heisman, doing so in 1974 and 1975.
Behind Winston in the betting odds are quarterbacks Braxton Miller (Ohio State) and Marcus Mariota (Oregon) at 4-to-1 and quarterback Bryce Petty (Baylor) and running back T.J. Yeldon (Alabama) at 7 1/2-to-1.
