On the heels of announcing its first hall of fame class on Monday, Georgia State took another step on Tuesday to reach out to its former athletes with the unveiling of the Varsity Club.
The Club is supposed to “provide former student-athletes the opportunity to reconnect with the University and reinvest in the future success of current student-athletes,” according to a statement released from the athletics department.
The Club comes with dual membership with the Panther Athletic Club, which is the booster club for the athletics department. The cost to join starts at $50.
The athletics department announced two events for members of the Varsity Club:
A volleyball reunion on Oct. 10-11 and men’s and women’s basketball on Feb. 6.
Additionally, Georgia State announced that it will hold the GSU JAM, a basketball exhibition event featuring the men’s and women’s teams, on Oct. 8 at the GSU Sports Arena. The event will include a dunk contest for players on the men’s team and a 3-point shooting contest for the women’s players.
Players from both teams will be available to sign autographs or pose for photos after the event.
The event starts at 6 p.m. and is free.
