Marquis Grissom Jr., the son of the former Braves outfielder, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Georgia Tech, the school announced Thursday.

Grissom Jr., 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, plays at Counterpane School and is listed as a right-handed pitcher. He previously verbally committed to Tech.

The signing was one of several made by Georgia Tech Thursday.

Grissom played 17 seasons in the major leagues, including from 1995-96 with his hometown Braves. He was part of the Braves’ 1995 World Series title team.
