Lowndes High quarterback Michael Barrett, a prized Georgia Tech target, has committed to Michigan. The AJC’s offensive player of the year for Class 7A made the announcement on his Twitter account Tuesday evening.

Barrett is a three-star prospect (247 Sports composite) who could have played at quarterback for Tech but could also have played a different position, such as wide receiver or running back, as he may do for the Wolverines. Tech already has a quarterback signed to its 2018 class, James Graham for Fitzgerald High.

As things would have it, Barrett is the second 2018 prospect that Tech has lost out on to Michigan, the first being Julius Welschof. A defensive end from Germany, Welschof had been committed to Tech until flipping to Michigan just before the early signing period in December.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors.
