Georgia Tech point guard Jose Alvarado has become coach Josh Pastner’s first signee to earn All-ACC honors. Alvarado, who was also the first player recruited by Pastner to commit and sign with Tech, earned third-team All-ACC honors after averaging 16.1 points (eighth in the league), 4.3 assists (eighth) and 2.4 steals per game (first) in league contests.

The 15-player team, voted on by the league’s coaches and 60 media members, was announced Monday.

After finishing seventh in the league with a 16.0 points per game average, guard Michael Devoe was named honorable mention. Devoe received the second most points (48) of all players receiving honorable mention. Devoe ranked sixth in the ACC in scoring and his shooting percentage (47.6%) was fifth.

Center James Banks was named to the all-defensive team for the second year in a row. Banks ranked second in the ACC in blocked shots per game at 2.5 and ninth in rebounds per game (7.7) and was the focal point of a defense that was fourth in the ACC in field-goal percentage defense.

Forward Moses Wright was sixth in balloting for most improved player. Wright finished 14th in the league in rebounding (6.9 rebounds per game), 22nd in scoring (13.0 points per game), third in field-goal percentage (53.1%) and tied for sixth in double-doubles (seven).
