Georgia Tech received its 21st commitment for coach Geoff Collins’ 2020 signing class from offensive lineman Ryan Spiers of Biloxi, Miss. Spiers tweeted out an announcement of his decision on Sunday, the day after he visited Tech for the win over South Florida in the Yellow Jackets’ season opener.

Spiers, from Biloxi High, reported his offer from Tech on July 26. The offer from Tech was the first that he had reported from a power conference school. Other FBS offers included Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama and UAB. Spiers is listed at 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds.

While he is unrated by 247 Sports, Spiers also has drawn interest from Auburn, Duke and Wake Forest, according to a Biloxi Sun Herald article. Spiers played last season at 6-2, 230, but made a concerted effort to add weight and was 275 pounds and close to 6-4 in late July.

“I’ve got a lot more power, way more power than I’ve ever had, so I’m excited,” Spiers told the Sun Herald.

Spiers is the sixth offensive lineman to commit to Tech as offensive-line coach Brent Key attempts to build numbers in his position group. With 21 in the class, Tech is committed to 90 scholarships for the 2020-21 academic year, five over the limit.

Tech has not had a signee from the state of Mississippi since 2002.
