Aug. 28, vs. Jacksonville State: Coach Paul Johnson debuts his running offense at home against Jacksonville State. Running the Gamecock's offense will be former LSU quarterback Ryan Perilloux, who will lineup behind a relatively inexperienced offensive line and wide receiver corps.

Sept. 6, at Boston College: Tech opens its conference schedule at Chestnut Hill. The Eagles led the ACC in total offense last season (425.1 ypg), but will be this year without quarterback Matt Ryan or the tailback tandem of Andre Callender and LV Whitworth. The Eagles return seven starters to a defense that ranked third in the ACC in total defense.

Sept. 13, at Virginia Tech: The Jackets will travel to Blacksburg to face defending ACC champion and quarterback Sean Glennon (1,796 yards and 12 TDs). The defense returns just four starters from a year ago, but the Hokies remain a favorite to repeat as ACC champs.

Sept. 20, vs. Mississippi State: The Bulldogs' 8-5 finish in 2007 was viewed as a major accomplishment. Running back Anthony Dixon rushed for 1,066 yards and 14 touchdowns on 287 carries as a sophomore. The defense, which returns nine starters, was seventh nationally against the pass last season.

Oct. 4, Duke: The Blue Devils finished 2007 winless in the ACC -- for the eighth time in 12 seasons. Former Ole Miss head coach and Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe inherits a Duke team that struggled in every facet of the game. One highlight might be senior wideout Eron Riley, a second-team All-ACC selection who had 830 yards and nine TDs last season.

Oct. 11, Gardner-Webb: The Runnin' Bulldogs will hold their first meeting with an ACC opponent when the visit the Flats. David Montgomery, an honorable mention All-Gwinnett County selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in 2005, led the team with 349 yards rushing on 78 carries as running back. He has proven his versatiility by lining up at running back -- his main position -- and slot receiver.

Oct. 18, at Clemson: Lead by quarterback Cullen Harper, the Tigers finished second in the ACC in total offense (403.3 ypg). Seven starters return to a defense that earned a top 25 national ranking in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense and pass defense.

Oct. 25, vs. Virginia: The Cavaliers ranked third in the ACC in scoring defense (19.7 ppg) a year ago. Running back Cedric Peerman (right) returns after losing half of 2007 due to injury. Peerman was leading the ACC in rushing before going down to injury.

Nov. 1, vs. Florida State: For the first time since joining the ACC, Florida State has not been picked to win the conference. College football's winningest coach, Bobby Bowden, brings experience to the Flats with senior quarterback Drew Weatherford and one of the best punt returners in the conference.

Nov. 8, at North Carolina: The Butch Davis era got off to mixed reviews last season going 4-8 overall and 3-5 in the Coastal Division. Returning quarterback T.J. Yates threw for 2,655 yards as a freshman behind an experienced offensive line. The Tar Heels also return one of the top pass defenses in the country.

Nov. 20, vs. Miami: Randy Shannon begins his second season in Miami without a settled starter at quarterback. Not your father's Hurricanes, last year's squad featured a lackluster defense and offense. With the nation's best recruiting class, there is the hope for improvement in 2008.

Nov. 29, at Georgia: Bowl eligibility may hinge on the outcome against state rival and BCS contender Bulldogs. After seven straight losses, however, coach Johnson realizes how important this game is to Tech and its fans.
