Georgia State’s strength and conditioning facility for football won’t open by its target date of Aug. 1.

Construction was delayed because of the need to redesign the underground drainage system as well as hitting the foundation of a previous building.

The workout equipment has been ordered and will be installed as soon as the building is complete, which a spokesman for the athletic department said should be within a few weeks.

The 7,000-square-foot building is being constructed next to the team’s offices on MLK Drive SE. It is projected to cost $600,000 with the equipment costing another $300,000.
