Georgia State beat Baylor but it couldn’t beat Ole Miss for the ESPY for Best Upset on Wednesday.

The Panthers were nominated for their 57-56 victory over Baylor in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

The victory was memorable because R.J. Hunter scored 12 of this team’s final 13 points, including a 30-foot 3-pointer with less than three seconds for the win. As the shot fell, his father and the team’s coach, Ron Hunter, threw up his arms and fell off his stool, creating a weaving storyline of upsets, big moments and family ties that put Georgia State in the national spotlight.

The Panthers were nominated along with the Kansas City Royals in the American League Championship Series and the Rebels’ victory over Alabama in football.
