A trio of local college baseball players were named to the Louisville Slugger All-America team on Thursday.

Kennesaw State catcher Max Pentecost was named to the first team, while Georgia State’s Nic Wilson was named to the second team and teammate Chase Raffield was named to the third team.

Pentecost has the second-highest average (.423) and most hits (104) in Division I this year. He is projected to be a top-20 selection in the amateur draft in June. He is in the midst of a 36-game hitting streak for the Owls, who will open NCAA regional play in Tallahassee on Friday.

Wilson, a native of Decatur, is fourth in homers (18). He hit 20 doubles with 52 RBis and 50 runs scored. His homer total is the third most in school history.

Raffield, a native of Cochran, hit .356 with 14 homers (seventh in Division I) and led the Sun Belt with 59 RBIs. After being named honorable mention by CollegeBaseballInsider.com last year, he is the first two-time All-America in baseball in school history and the third in any sport.
