Georgia State has pushed back the opening of its practice area for men's and women's basketball and volleyball until the end of February.

The move was necessary because of the desire of the athletic department and university to stay within the $1 million budget. The athletic department hoped to open the area by the beginning of the year.

The area is being built in the Aquatic Center located next to the GSU Sports Arena.

Demolition is scheduled to start this week.

Some of the plans have changed slightly. Originally, both of the pools inside the Aquatic Center were going to be filled with concrete. Now, just the normal pool will be filled. The deep-weel pool won’t be filled.

The center received a large gift from Cathy Henson and Patty Ferrer for the naming of the court earlier this year.
