Georgia State will open its 2017 football season hosting Tennessee State on Sept. 2.
The Panthers announced the schedule addition on Tuesday. Georgia State will pay Tennessee State, which plays in the Ohio Valley Conference, $325,000.
Where will the teams play is the more interesting question because the game could either be the Panthers’ first in new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, it could be in a renovated Turner Field, or it could be in a new stadium constructed by Georgia State for football near Turner Field.
The addition of Tennessee State, which competes on the FCS level, completes the non-conference portion of Georgia State’s schedule for 2017.
