Georgia has added Samford University to its 2017 football schedule.

The Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) team from Birmingham, Ala., will come to Sanford Stadium on a date yet to be determined. The UGA Athletic Association will pay its Southern Conference opponent $500,000 to participate in the game, according to the memorandum of understanding signed by Greg McGarity Wednesday morning.

It will be just the second time Georgia has met Samford in football. They last time was in 1943 when the Bulldogs won 39-0 in Athens.

Samford’s addition completes UGA’s 2017 non-conference slate. The Bulldogs will also play road games against Notre Dame (Sept. 9) and Georgia Tech (Nov. 25) that year and will play host to Appalachian State on another date to be determined.

Georgia’s 2017 SEC schedule will include home games against Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri and South Carolina, road games versus Auburn, Tennessee and Vanderbilt, and the annual neutral-site game against Florida in Jacksonville.
