Jim Chaney, a former SEC offensive coordinator who spent this past season in the same job at Pittsburgh, was hired Saturday to run Georgia's offense.

UGA also announced the hire of Sam Pittman as the offensive line coach and confirmed the previously reported hire of Glen Schumann as a defensive assistant.

Also, Georgia’s school plane filed a flight plan to go to Pittsburgh on Saturday morning. Prized five-star recruit Jacob Eason is in Athens this weekend for an official recruiting visit.

Chaney was offensive coordinator at Purdue from 1997-2005, where he coached Drew Brees, and at Tennessee from 2009-12 and at Arkansas from 2013-14. This is his first season at Pittsburgh, as he was hired by first-year coach Pat Narduzzi last offseason.

Chaney also coached with the St. Louis Rams for three seasons, two as offensive line coach and one as tight ends coach.

Arkansas, in its online bio of Pittman, refers to him as “universally considered one of the nation’s best offensive line coaches and recruiters.” Pittman was at Arkansas from 2013-15. Before that he coached at Tennesee and at North Carolina.
