Georgia Tech coach Geoff Collins has added two coaches to his staff, a receivers coach and a strength-and-conditioning coach with previous experience at Tech. The school made the announcement Thursday.

Kerry Dixon will coach wide receivers for the Yellow Jackets, as had been previously reported. Dixon was at Toledo this past season as running backs coach but coached wide receivers at Florida 2015-17, during which time he worked alongside Collins when he was defensive coordinator for the Gators from 2015-16. Dixon was named one of the top 25 recruiters in the country by Rivals in 2016.

“Kerry and I worked together at the University of Florida and I watched firsthand the type of wide-receiver play that he developed,” Collins said of Dixon in a statement. “He’s a relentless recruiter, a tireless worker and always has a positive attitude. He possesses a knowledge of the game from all of the positions on offense. I’m really excited about him joining the Georgia Tech football family.”

Collins’ new strength coach will be Lewis Caralla, who has been at the University at Buffalo for the past season. Caralla had also previously been head strength coach at Louisiana-Lafayette (2016-17) and North Texas (2015). He was at Tech 2010-11 as an assistant strength-and-conditioning coach for football and also head strength-and-conditioning coach for golf.

“They had a great season and a large part of that was due to their gains in the weight room and offseason conditioning,” Collins said about Caralla in a statement. “He was with me at Mississippi State and has been at Georgia Tech before, so he knows this place, he loves this place and I’m really excited to get him back on The Flats.”

Caralla’s hire means that John Sisk, who was the strength coach for coach Paul Johnson since 2012, will not be retained.

They are the second and third members of Collins’ staff that have been announced by the school following running backs coach Tashard Choice, the Tech great who was hired from North Texas.
