Georgia Tech defensive end KeShun Freeman was named the ACC defensive lineman of the week after his productive performance against Virginia. Freeman had five tackles, most among Yellow Jackets’ linemen, including a sack, in the team’s 35-10 win over the Cavaliers. Freeman also had a forced fumble and a blocked kick, both career firsts.

His 3.5 sacks and eight tackles for loss lead ACC freshmen. He is the sixth Tech player to be honored by the ACC with the weekly award.

Freeman was also named one of the team’s three players of the week, along with B-back Synjyn Days (offense) and linebacker Beau Hankins (special teams). Days ran 24 times for 147 yards, his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game and the highest total for a Tech running back since Orwin Smith gained 157 against Kansas in 2011. Hankins made three special-teams tackles.

“He’s been a good special-teams player all year,” coach Paul Johnson said.
