Former UGA star Grant stabbed

Charles Grant was chosen as a member of the AJC's Elite Eleven all-star football team while a senior at Miller County high school.

Grant, who normally played defense for UGA, was occasionally used for his bruising ball-carrying ability.

Grant tackled Georgia Tech QB George Godsey on a keeper play during the 2001 UGA vs. Tech game.

Grant dunks UGA head coach Mark Richt in the final seconds of the Bulldogs' 31-17 win over Georgia Tech in 2001.

Grant (accompanied by his agent, Pat Dye, Jr.) left UGA after his junior season to enter the NFL draft.

After being selected in the first round of the 2002 NFL draft, Grant handed his mother, Theresa Warren, the keys to a new Cadillac Escalade.

Grant was tagged a "franchise" player this past season by the New Orleans Saints.
