Three-star defensive end Mayan Ahanotu has drawn interest from Georgia Tech during his junior year at Berkeley Prep in Tampa, Fla., according to Scout Recruiting.

According to Scout Recruiting's Corey Binder, Ahanotu is being recruited by Tech, South Florida, N.C. State and Bowling Green, but so far, has a scholarship offer only from Iowa State, which Ahanotu announced in May on hiss Twitter page. Ahanotu told Binder he is being recruited as a defensive lineman by most schools.

When looking for a school to continue his football career, the 6-foot-5, 235-pound Ahanotu wants to be somewhere that feels like home.

“As long as I’m comfortable there and I can see myself, even without sports, I can come just back there and feel great and right at home,” Ahanotu said to Scout Reporting.

In his junior season highlight package, Ahanotu demonstrates his strength by overpowering opposing offensive lineman. Ahanotu's agility and quickness also are apparent in his ability to pivot around defenders to take down the ball carrier.

Ahanotu’s goal in what remains of his time with the Berkeley Buccaneers is to prove that he’s worthy of playing college football.

“I’m just trying to prove that I’m a great player and we have a great team behind us and great coaches and just watch out for us,” Ahanotu said to Scout Reporting.

Berkeley Prep is 4-2 this season and play their next game Friday night against Lake Highland Prep in Orlando, Fla.
