Four years after he left the job as athletic director at Georgia amid a scandal, Damon Evans has rebuilt his career to the point that Maryland hired him Friday as its senior associate AD/chief financial officer.

Evans resigned in July 2010 as part of a negotiated settlement in the aftermath of his arrest on a DUI charge. Evans refused a Breathalyzer test and spent the night in jail. When the state patrol officer stopped Evans’ car, Evans had a women passenger with him who was not his wife.

A month after Evans left UGA he was hired as vice president of business development at the Markley Group in Boston, where he stayed until March 2013. He later was the vice president of fundraising at IMG College in Winston-Salem, N.C., and most recently was a managing partner at Evolution Sports Partners in New Jersey. The new business focused on technology, analytics, and consulting services for athletic organizations.

Evans was AD at Georgia from 2004-10.
