Following Monday’s practice, Georgia coach Mark Richt called an impromptu meeting with media members to announce that reserve defensive back Sheldon Dawson is no longer with the team. Richt would not elaborate on the circumstances in which the junior left the program. Dawson had three tackles this season and did not start a game.

Richt also made it a point to confirm that junior tailback Todd Gurley was indeed falsely accused of assault by a fellow University of Georgia student over the weekend. According to the Athens Banner-Herald, surveillance video from a downtown Athens bar showed the victim in question was in fact hit by a white male and not by Gurley. The student did not pursue the allegation after interviews with police.
