The exhibit: The indoor playing field is a 45-yard long swath of artificial turf that will be used for football-skills games and other activities when the Hall of Fame is open and as a space for special events at other times.

Touring it: A video board, 36 feet long by 18 feet tall, hangs behind the goal posts at one end of the replica football field. Netting will drop down to protect non-participants from flying footballs when the field is activated as the "Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Skill Zone." The field empties into a retail store that stretches along Marietta Street.

Talking about it: CEO John Stephenson said the field is one of several spaces in the building that can be rented for special events. (The others are the lobby, theater and Hall of Fame room.) The field can be set up to accommodate 900 for a sit-down dinner or breakfast and up to 1,450 for a reception. "We don't have a dedicated space for events like the Aquarium does. Our event space is our exhibit space," Stephenson said.
