The chief executive of the Atlanta-based College Football Hall of Fame, who recently announced he’ll step down from the position early next year, got a prestigious parting gift from the National Football Foundation at its 62nd annual awards dinner in New York on Tuesday night.

Dennis Adamovich, the Hall of Fame’s CEO since 2016, received a Legacy Award, which the NFF said “honors individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions to the NFF and/or embody its mission.”

During Adamovich’s tenure, the Hall of Fame reached deals to make Chick-fil-A its title sponsor and to bring more high-profile events to the downtown Atlanta attraction, including SEC Football Media Days in 2018 and again next year. Adamovich “has truly left his mark,” National Football Foundation president and CEO Steve Hatchell said in a statement.

The Hall of Fame, which was moved to Atlanta by the NFF in 2014, hasn’t named Adamovich’s successor.

Also at Tuesday night's awards dinner in New York, the 13 former players and two former coaches in the Hall of Fame's 2019 class were formally inducted.
