Former Georgia Tech cornerback D.J. White continued the Yellow Jackets’ line of defensive backs into the NFL. White was drafted Saturday afternoon in the sixth round by the Kansas City Chiefs, the No. 178 pick overall.

The author of some of the most impactful plays of Tech’s 2014 season was the 25th cornerback selected in the draft.

He was the third cornerback drafted by the Chiefs.

White follows the likes of former Tech defensive backs Morgan Burnett, Jemea Thomas, Louis Young, Isaiah Johnson, Rod Sweeting and Mario Butler into the NFL. White brings good size (5-foot-11 and 193 pounds), explosive strength (132-inch broad jump) and a vast store of experience after starting for three seasons at Tech.

Wihte was one of four senior defensive backs who entered the weekend who hoped either to be drafted or to sign with a team, along with safeties Jamal Golden and Demond Smith and cornerback Chris Milton.
