Gailey was all smiles during the first day of football practice at Georgia Tech on August 3, 2007. He leaves Tech as the only coach who has had nothing but winning seasons. He also joins Bobby Dodd as the only Tech coaches to win seven or more games in six consecutive seasons. But Dodd beat Georgia, and Gailey never did.
