Georgia Tech will be without both of its top two centers for spring practice. Coach Paul Johnson had previously said that backup Andrew Marshall would miss the spring after undergoing an unspecified surgical procedure following the season, but Johnson said Monday that starter Freddie Burden will also be out.

He was seen wearing a brace on his wrist. Johnson said that Burden fell in an offseason workout. Burden started all 14 games last year for the Yellow Jackets in his first season of play.

“We thought we were going to cast it and have him play, but the doctors felt like to be safe, to be sure that he was 100 percent this fall, we should probably limit his contract,” Johnson said. “Hard to play center without contact.”

Michael Muns, Niko Anderson and Nick Brigham will see time at center, as could guard Trey Braun.
