Dan Magill has been on the hearts of UGA fans everywhere the past week, and his name will be on the helmets of the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday against Clemson.

Magill, considered by many “the greatest Bulldog ever,” passed away this past Saturday at the age of 93. A special decal has been designed that will affixed to the back of Georgia’s helmets this Saturday. It’s a simple design, black capital letters spelling out his last name, M-A-G-I-L-L, and using the Georgia “power G” in the middle.

An Athens native, Magill began his 60-year association with Georgia athletics as a baseball batboy in the 1930s and continued in numerous roles until his retirement in 1995. During his tenure he served as sports information director and head men’s tennis coach, and he founded the Georgia Bulldog Club.

A private family funeral was held for Magill on Thursday morning. He was then honored with a heavily-attended life celebration memorial service Thursday afternoon at Athens Country Club.
