Brawl breaks out after bowl game

Memphis Tigers and BYU Cougars players came to blows on the field after the Tigers' 55-48 double-overtime win at the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl.

The Brigham Young Cougars and Memphis Tigers lined up Monday for the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl at Marlins Park in Miami. It was a competitive game that ended mad melee.

Memphis quarterback Paxton Lynch (12) threw four touchdown passes and rushed for three more scores. The Tigers, however, allowed the Cougars 17 fourth-quarter points that led to overtime.

The teams exchanged field goals in the first overtime. The Tigers took the 55-48 lead on an 11-yard touchdown catch by wide receiver Roderick Proctor in the second overtime.

Memphis secured the win when defensive back DaShaughn Terry intercepted BYU quarterback Christian Stewart in the game's second overtime.

A celebration ensued and as players from both teams crossed the field a scuffle broke out.

Finally, players and officials broke up the melee and the celebration continued ...

... With the Tigers claiming their trophy in the inaugural Miami Beach Bowl.
