1. Could Ohio State lose one of its three gifted quarterbacks? Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post reported that Braxton Miller is considering transferring to Florida State, where he would be able to play immediately — he has already graduated from Ohio State — as Jameis Winston's presumed replacement. (Winston is expected to leave for the NFL.) Miller was supposed to be a Heisman candidate this season but got hurt in August, clearing the way for J.T. Barrett to lead the Buckeyes to an 11-1 regular season. Barrett was hurt against Michigan, making room for Cardale Jones to start against Wisconsin in the Big Ten championship game, which Ohio State won 59-0. All three have eligibility remaining and it's hard to find room for two good quarterbacks, let alone three. Asked about Miller at Wednesday's press briefing, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said: "We've had conversations and I expect him to be back at Ohio State."

2. Meyer is high on Raekwon McMillan of Hinesville, Ga. The Liberty County freshman — and 5-star recruit — is playing "half the snaps at linebacker," Meyer said, and suggested that's just the beginning. "I've told our coaches, 'Go find another one of those.' He's going to be a captain at Ohio State. If you're looking for someone to invest in as a player and a person, that's one you'd recruit … He's very serious about school and about leadership."

3. Meyer is high on Georgia players, period. Of our fair state, the former Florida coach said: "It's hard to say that's not as good a recruiting state as any, with the population growth and the number of big programs and the coaching." A year before landing McMillan, Ohio State signed 5-star safety Vonn Bell from Rossville's Ridgeland. As a sophomore, Bell is tied for the team lead in interceptions. But isn't it hard to convince someone to leave the sunny South? Smiling, Meyer said: "Every once in a while, we get a little bit of weather. But not often."
