Georgia Tech assistant coach Brian Bohannon will be Kennesaw State’s first football coach. Kennesaw State made the decision official Sunday with a news release.

The move comes on the eve of the start of Tech’s spring practice. For the Yellow Jackets program, it likely means coach Paul Johnson will have to shuffle his staff to cover the offense. Bohannon, who has served as an assistant to Johnson at Georgia Southern, Navy and Tech, has coached the quarterbacks and B-backs at Tech. Bohannon, who grew up in Griffin and played at Georgia, will be taking on his first head coaching job.

Kennesaw State is starting a new program in 2015. Tech assistant Andy McCollum, a Marietta High graduate, was also considered for the position.
