Former Georgia Tech B-back Anthony Allen helped make history Sunday, throwing a key block in Jacoby Jones’ 108-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Baltimore Ravens’ 34-31 Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

On the opening kickoff of the second half, Allen’s block on the 49ers’ Brian Westbrook at about the Ravens 22-yard lane opened up a lane for Jones to shoot through the center of the field on his way to the end zone.

The runback was initially measured at 109 yards, which would have been an NFL first, but it was later judged to be 108, which merely set the NFL postseason record and tied for the longest all-time. You can see the block at about the 56-second mark on this nfl.com highlight clip. Allen is No. 35.

Allen also threw a lane-clearing block on a 108-yard return that Jones had in October.
