Tony Amerson, a running back from Montgomery, Ala., announced his commitment to Georgia Tech on Saturday via his Twitter account.

According to 247Sports, Amerson is a 5-foot-11, 212-pound 3-star recruit from St. James School in Montgomery and is ranked among the top 50 running backs in the nation by 247Sports. He is reported to have received 13 scholarship offers, including from Mississippi State, Louisville, Kentucky, Purdue, Maryland and Vanderbilt.

Amerson would appear to be a B-back candidate. Tech has three B-backs on scholarship: junior KirVonte Benson, sophomore Jerry Howard and redshirt freshman Jordan Ponchez-Mason. Incoming freshman Christian Malloy could get a look at B-back or A-back.
