Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper set several SEC records during Saturday’s SEC Championship game against Missouri at the Georgia Dome.

Cooper, a junior, passed Jordan Matthews for the conference’s ssingle-season record for receptions in the first half . He ame into the game with 103 receptions. He set the mark of 113 receptions on a 1-yard screen pass in the second quarter. Matthews set the record of 112 at Vanderbilt last year.

Cooper’s 10 receptions set a SEC championship game record for catches in the first half, bettering the six by Florida’s Reidel Anthony in 1996 and Tennessee’s Kelley Washington in 2001.

Cooper broke the championship game record of 11 receptions, set by Anthony, in the fourth quarter.

Cooper was named a candidate for the Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the nation’s top wide receiver, before the season. He was also named a preseason All-American with 104 receptions for 1,736 yards and 15 touchdowns.
