Alabama coach’s playbook stolen before championship game
Atlanta police said an Alabama football coach’s backpack contained his playbook was stolen from his hotel ahead of Monday’s College Football Playoff Championship against Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
According to a police report, defensive line coach Karl Dunbar left his backpack in a conference room designated as the defensive line meeting room at the downtown Marriott Marquis.
The bag had Dunbar’s cellphone, laptop, $1,300 cash, passport and game-day playbook.
Some of the items were recovered in a bathroom, but not the playbook.
An unidentified suspect wearing jeans, a T-shirt and a baseball cap was caught on video with the bag.

University of Alabama officials said they did not know the bag was stolen and would not comment.
After struggling in the first half, Alabama changed quarterbacks and went on to beat Georgia 26-23 in overtime for the national title.
