College Recruiting: Cartersville's top prospects

Cartersville's Donavan Tate could be Georgia's best pure athlete. He plays quarterback, running back, receiver and safety for the Purple Hurricanes. Though Tate lines up at quarterback, he wears the number 32 in honor of his father, former Georgia and NFL running back Lars Tate.

Morgan Alexander has great speed and quickness, and is elusive in the open field. On defense, he is able to run and cut with any of the receivers he lines up against. He's considering Arkansas, Indiana, Louisville and South Carolina State.

Tate is also regarded as one of the top baseball prospects in the country and is likely to be a high MLB draft pick next spring. If he attends college, he wants to play both football and baseball.

Donavan Tate has scholarship offers from almost every major college in the nation, including Georgia, Southern Cal, Michigan and Texas.

RIVALS RANKING NO. 83 -- DONAVAN TATE, ATH, Cartersville High. Signed with North Carolina. Rivals comment: te is a super athlete who if he decides to play football, could end up at QB, RB, DB or even LB. Chances are, though, he gets drafted in the first round of the MLB draft in June.

Alexander's athleticism enables him to line up at any number of positions for the Purple Hurricanes, including running back, receiver, quarterback and defensive back. His father played football for Rockmart High School and at Georgia Southern.

Having always been the most talented player on the field, Tate will have to adjust to competing with and against athletes who are just as talented as he is.
