An executive from MetLife Stadium, home of the New York Giants and Jets, has been hired as director of stadium operations for Atlanta’s new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

David Duernberger, who had been with MetLife Stadium as vice president of facility operations since its opening, will be responsible for management and direction of the new Falcons stadium’s engineering, technical services and building services functions. He’ll report to Scott Jenkins, Mercedes-Benz Stadium’s general manager.

Before joining MetLife Stadium in 2009, Duernberger oversaw facilities for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Lincoln Financial Field and the Milwaukee Brewers’ Miller Park. He has worked in the facility management industry for more than 30 years.

“David brings a tremendous amount of experience in opening world-class facilities,” Jenkins said in a statement. “He understands what is needed to be successful for a building with such complexity and scale.”

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is scheduled to open next year.
