For some, it’s never too early to watch for the next great NFL prospect.

Walter Football released a 2020 mock draft, obviously more focused on giving the reader names to learn rather than pegging fits.

Atop the mock is Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm, who just completed a standout freshman season that ended in a national championship loss.

“Jake Fromm was tremendous as a rookie for SEC champion Georgia,” the mock reads. “He has a great skill set and is the very early favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, though a lot could obviously change in the next two years.”

The quarterback who topped him in the title game’s overtime, Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa, lands No. 2 overall. Former Bulldog signal caller Jacob Eason came in at No. 3, though that’s a bit ambitious given that Eason will likely have to sit out next season in accordance with transfer rules.

Not expected to log much time his freshman year, Fromm became arguably the best quarterback in the conference. He threw for 2,615 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions while leading Georgia to its first SEC championship win since 2005.

Fromm could very well underwhelm in the coming years, but the mock is a salute to what the scouting community is already seeing in the Warner Robins product. His trajectory suggests he could become the second Bulldogs quarterback to go No. 1, joining Matthew Stafford in 2009.

But for the time being, Fromm should focus on holding off Justin Fields and keeping his team among college football’s elite.
