Florida State junior receiver Rashad Greene has a caught touchdown pass in five straight games.
Greene had a TD catch in January’s Orange Bowl victory over Northern Illinois, and he has recorded at least one TD reception in each of this season’s wins over Pittsburgh, Nevada, Bethune-Cookman and Boston College.
He has a team-leading 19 catches for 299 yards and a team-best five touchdown receptions, including a 56-yard TD and a 10-yard TD in the 48-34 win over BC on Saturday.
“He’s a hard worker,” FSU coach Jimbo Fisher said. “Rashad is smart, just drives himself. He’s fun to coach.”
Greene has 18 career touchdown receptions, placing him 11th on FSU’s all-time list. He’s just one TD grab away from tying Craphonso Thorpe for 10th. Two TDs would tie Greene’s position coach, Lawrence Dawsey, who had 20 from 1987-90.
Greene also had TDs in five straight games as a freshman in 2011, with touchdowns to open the season against Louisiana Monroe, Charleston Southern, Oklahoma, Clemson and Wake Forest.
Hunter remains questionable: Fisher said junior safety Tyler Hunter (neck), who started the first three FSU games this season, is still being examined by doctors and it's not clear when he will play. Hunter missed the BC game, and freshman Jalen Ramsey started in his place.
ACC players of the week: QB Jameis Winston, who threw for 330 yards and four touchdowns in the Seminoles' 48-34 win at Boston College, was named the ACC offensive back of the week. Winston received his third weekly honor of the season after twice being named the ACC rookie of the week.
The Seminoles’ Telvin Smith was named the ACC linebacker of the week after making 10 tackles and recording a sack in the win over the Eagles.
Appreciation for Trickett: Former FSU quarterback Clint Trickett, who transferred to West Virginia, received his first start for the Mountaineers on Saturday and shredded then-No. 11 Oklahoma State for 309 passing yards. Trickett graduated from FSU this past spring and is a junior for West Virginia. "Very proud and happy for him," Fisher said.
