April 17, 2016A crowd of over 93,000 showed up for Georgia's first G-Day scrimmage under new coach Kirby Smart Saturday in Athens.
And a lot of them were there to see freshman quarterback Jacob Eason.
He didn't disappoint, completing 19 of 29 passes for 244 yards and a touchdown.
Hundreds of fans were turned away at the gate for the free scrimmage at Sanford Stadium, and the public address announcer twice asked people to move closer so others could take a seat.
Last year's spring game, Georgia's last under former coach Mark Richt, drew over 46,000, then the most in program history.

Getting that many people to show up for a scrimmage, even if it was free, illustrates the extent to which Smart’s hiring has ignited Georgia’s fan base. Click here to read more on MyAJC.com
