Georgia State declined to comment on the possibility of Kevin Ware transferring to the university to play basketball.

Ware, who played at Rockdale County High School, announced on Saturday that he intends to transfer from Louisville. The news comes less than a day after the Cardinals were beaten by Kentucky in the NCAA tournament.

Ware was a key member of last year’s team, which won the national championship at the Georgia Dome.

Ware sustained a broken right leg during last year’s NCAA tournament, a gruesome injury that caused him to miss the final few games of the title run.

He became an inspiration for the team and returned this season, playing in nine games before opting to sit out the rest of the season.

A 6-2 guard, he averaged 3.1 points per game at Louisville.

He originally committed to Bruce Pearl and Tennessee. Auburn, who hired Pearl recently as head coach, could also be in the mix to bring in Ware.
