The Patrick Mahomes era has officially begun in Kansas City.

Late Tuesday, the Kansas City Star first reported the Kansas City Chiefs agreed trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Washington Redskins in exchange for a third-round 2018 NFL Draft pick and Washington cornerback Kendall Fuller.

Smith will spend the next five seasons in Washington after agreeing to a four-year extension worth $94 million with $71 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

A 12-year veteran of the League, Smith spent seven years in San Francisco before landing in Kansas City. With the Chiefs, Smith threw for 17,608 yards, 102 touchdowns and 33 interceptions.
