DeMarre Carroll will not travel with the Hawks on a two-game road trip that begins Sunday against the Magic.

The forward has a sprained right thumb that clearly affected him during Saturday’s 118-116 overtime victory over the Bobcats. Carroll, who was a game-time decision, started and played 19 minutes. He missed all four shot attempts.

Carroll told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution following the game that the injury affected him and that he would remain in Atlanta for treatment. The Hawks also play at the Celtics on Tuesday.

Carroll was injured in Thursday’s double-overtime victory over the Cavaliers. He sprained the thumb fighting through a screen set by Tyler Zeller in the fourth quarter. He left the game and did not return. X-rays done in Cleveland Thursday and in Atlanta Friday revealed no fracture or ligament damage.

Carroll has started all 30 games this season for the Hawks.

Following the Hawks Saturday, Carroll tweeted: “Great Team Win! We showed a lot of character. Now y’all go get these 2 on the road! I got to get healthy.”
