How the winning run scored: After being shut out in three of their last five games, the G-Braves had their biggest offensive night in over two weeks, defeating Norfolk on Monday in the first of a four-game series at Coolray Field. Luis Nunez's two-out, two-run single powered Gwinnett's four-run outburst in the fifth inning, when they overcame a 4-3 deficit.

At the plate: Philip Gosselin's lead-off homer in the third ended a string of 14 scoreless innings by Gwinnett.

On the mound: Though Gwinnett starter Joe Bisencius (3-1) spotted the Tides an early 4-0 lead, only two of those runs were earned and he departed after the fifth with a three-run lead. The bullpen held the Tides in one hit in four scoreless innings of relief.

What's next for Gwinnett: Braves' future meets Braves' past. Brandon Beachy begins his second round of rehab starts, facing former Brave Jair Jurrjens (5-6, 4.58). Beachy was 0-1 with a 3.75 ERA in three prior Gwinnett rehab appearances before he was shut down last month due to elbow irritation.
