New Braves general manager Alex Anthopoulos tapped into his Blue Jays roots previously to fill a front-office post in Atlanta, now he’s hiring someone from his more recent stint with the Dodgers.

The Braves and Anthopoulos have hired Alex Tamin as director of major league operations. Tamin served as director of baseball operations for Dodgers, where he worked with Anthopoulos, who was vice president of baseball operations for the past two seasons for the Dodgers before being hired last month as Braves GM and executive vice president.

Tamin handled many of the intricate rules and transactions paperwork and advance scouting for the Dodgers and is expected to serve in a similar role with the Braves, who plan to emulate much of what the Dodgers did with a front office that was considered to be at the forefront in terms of innovations and use of analytics and technology.
