Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis' early play has earned them consideration in the National League MVP conversation.
A poll of 32 MLB.com writers earned the Braves’ first baseman a third-place nod. Freeman ranks first in on-base percentage (.435) and third in RBIs (32) the National League this season.
Markakis, who has the second-best batting average in the National League (.333), earned two MVP votes from pollsters. In his ninth season— fourth with the Braves— Markakis has recorded 30 runs, seven home runs and has a on-base percentage of .408.
Leading the MVP poll were Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock and Washington Nationals pitcher Max Scherzer.
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout earned the most votes for the American League MVP in the poll.
