A bird was nearly hit by a baseball thrown by Adam Wainwright during a game Monday.
The Cardinals ace delivered an 84 mph off-speed pitch to catcher Yadier Molina, which was fouled off by Cheslor Cuthbert.
The bird maintained its flight path seemingly unaware of the close call.
It's not the first time a bird in flight and baseball have made impact. The confluence of physics and fate that spared this bird went "afowl" about 15 years ago when Randy Johnson struck a flying pigeon during a spring training game.
While the bird survived, the Cardinals ended up losing the game 6-2 to the Royals.
