The Dream sit last in the Eastern Conference. But for the second straight year they have two starters in the All-Star game: point guard Shoni Schimmel and forward Angel McCoughtry, the WNBA announced Tuesday.

Both players were All-Star starters last season, as well.

Schimmel has started two games this season and played 11 minutes total in the last five games. Early in the season, the second-year player struggled with conditioning issues. After Schimmel played eight minutes in Sunday's win, coach Michael Cooper said Schimmel's playing time will increase now that she's in game shape.

The starting lineups for the Eastern and Western Conference are chosen by the fans, and Schimmel had the second-most votes among Eastern Conference guards (8,881) and sixth-most votes in the WNBA. Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky was the top choice with over 18,000 votes.

Last season Schimmel set an All-Star game scoring record with 29 points and had eight assists as she earned MVP honors.

McCoughtry will play in her fourth All-Star game, a Dream record. McCoughtry is second in the WNBA in points per game (21.9) and scored 32 points Sunday on 9-for-12 shooting.

The All-Star game is July 25 at 3:30 p.m.

The Dream’s six-game road trips begins Tuesday night in Phoenix. They are 6-7 and two games out of first place.
