Dennis Schroder feared the worst.
The Hawks backup point guard thought he broke the big toe on his left foot on a drive to the basket against the Bucks on March 30. It turns out it was just a sprain.
Schroder returned to the active lineup Tuesday against the Suns after missing two games with the injury.
“It’s still a little sore,” Schroder said before the game. “(Athletic trainer) Wally (Blase) told me it’s going to be sore for (awhile). But he said I’m looking great in practice.
“I think I’m ready to give 15 minutes or 10 minutes.”
Schroder said the team will see how he comes out of Tuesday’s game before making a decision on the rest of the regular season. He expects to some more rest down the stretch.
Schroder said the injury was more on the side of his toe.
“It was weird,” Schroder said. “I thought there was something wrong with it. I lucky there wasn’t.”
Schroder has had a solid season, appearing in 72 games including nine starts. He is averaging 9.8 points and 4.2 assists.
