Newly acquired guard Tim Hardaway Jr. is introduced to the media Monday in Atlanta. After acquiring Hardaway from the New York Knicks during the NBA draft, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said the second-year guard can help the Hawks' offense immediately.

Atlanta Hawks guard Tim Hardaway Jr., said of coach Mike Budenholzer: "Coach Bud has done a great job with the players that he’s had for these past couple of years in making them better. It all comes from being more mature and listening to what he has to say. Why not?”

Hardaway will need to prove himself defensively, though, if he wants to earn more playing time.

“I wasn’t ready but at the same time anything can happen in those situations,” Tim Hardaway Jr. said. “When I got the call, at the same time I was shocked and at the same time I was happy.”

Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer reiterated Monday that he has long had his eye on Hardaway. Another shooter is a valuable asset.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Tim Hardaway Jr. said. “I’m going to take advantage of it.”
