How the game was won: The Hawks started with some woeful first-quarter shooting. They shot just 34 percent in the opening period on 8 of 23 shooting, including 2 of 7 from 3-point range. The Pelicans took advantage, by shooting 52 percent in the opening quarter, and ended the Hawks' 19-game win streak.

Turning point: Kyle Korver started the game with a basket, originally called a 3-pointer. It was changed to a 2-pointer after a review during the first timeout. It would be the Hawks' biggest lead of the game. It was gone after the Pelicans took a 9-6 lead on an Eric Gordon 3-pointer and the Pelicans never trailed.

Number: 2. Third-quarter technical fouls on the Hawks, one each for Paul Millsap and Pero Antic, as they were clearly frustrated.

Next: The Hawks return home to host the Wizards Wednesday ahead of the showdown with the Warriors Friday.
